Malaysia won its first ASEAN Suzuki Cup today by beating Indonesia with an aggregate score of 4-2.
In the final's second leg, held in Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Indonesia beat Malaysia2-1 in a match attended by Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
However, the score was not enough to overcome Indonesia's 3-0 defeat to Malaysia in the first leg at the national stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia's Mohammad Safee Bin Mohammad Sali, the top scorer during the 2010 championships ASEAN Suzuki Cup, formerly known as the Tiger Cup, scored the first goal in the 53rd minute.
Indonesia levelled the score in the 71st minute with a goal by Mohammad Nasuha and Mohammad Ridwan took them into the lead with a second goal in the 87th minute.
Losing the ASEAN Suzuki Cup tournament was a bitter pill for Indonesia to swallow after beatingMalaysia 5-1 in a qualification match earlier this month.
